So, Friday, my DECA teacher told me it was okay for me to go with McAdory's DECA to New York; however, my aunts, whom I was trusting to get me at least $200 for my deposit, backed out on me. Needless to say I was upset.
I felt like no one believed in me. I felt as if my dreams meant nothing. And I told my mother so. My brother was in the room though, and he told me he would pay for my trip.
I hugged him for what I think was the first time in my life.
Now reassured that I would make all the money and be able to go, my aunt gave me a check for $100. My mom, dad, and brother went to my other family and my cousin-in-law- wrote me a check for $300 (along with some $25-$50 donations from my grandparents). That's more than I ever dreamed for from my family; or any one person, honestly.
So this weekend has been amazing.
Thanks.
